Pets Assisting with Student Success, affectionately known as PAWSS, is a not-for-profit animal therapy program that offers unstructured, animal-assisted interactions at MacEwan University and associated educational institutions.

We are the only Canadian university that has created, developed and implemented distinct animal wellness programs aimed at supporting student, staff and faculty mental wellness and improving presenteeism.

Students of all ages experience a variety of stressors, and it can be hard to be successful if stress and anxiety are not managed. Types of stressors students experience can be related to academics, friendships and relationships, financial, social, employment, and mental health and wellness. All PAWSS student programming at MacEwan and associated educational institutions aim to enhance mental wellness and student success.
