MacEwan University Library invites applications for a full-time probationary track position at the City Centre Campus. The successful candidate will be dynamic, innovative, and proactive, with a genuine interest and commitment to reference service, collection development, faculty liaison, information literacy instruction and scholarly communication.

Supporting students and faculty in the Faculty of Health and Community Studies, this position will provide liaison services in a variety of program areas including acupuncture, child and youth care, physical education, hearing aid practitioner, massage therapy, social work, and physical and occupational therapist. With a Bachelor of Social Work degree launching in fall 2016 and several new degrees in development within the Faculty, the incumbent will further develop collections, instructional programming, and other library services in support of these new degrees.

As a member of the instructional team, the incumbent will join in the delivery of face-to-face and online reference services, and participate in the Library’s information literacy program. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to serve on library and university committees, and will be involved in various projects and initiatives that advance the Library’s strategic plan.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in library/information science from an ALA accredited program is required
• Post-secondary education and/ or relevant experience in one or more of the program areas listed above
• Two or more years of professional experience in an academic library providing instructional programming, faculty liaison and collection development services
• Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Superior presentation and teaching skills
• Experience with learning management systems and other online instruction delivery modes
• Ability to work collegially and collaboratively in a team environment
• Demonstrated project management skills

Librarians are members of the MacEwan University Faculty Association. The University has a generous benefits package. Term and conditions of employment are outlined in the Faculty Association Collective Agreement.

This position will be filled at the rank of Librarian I or Librarian II.

This position is included under the Faculty Association collective agreement.
