Aquatic Supervisor
Sport and Wellness

Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Manager, MacEwan Sport and Wellness, the aquatic supervisor is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the overall management and administration of the aquatic area. The position will coordinate all staffing functions including recruiting, training, scheduling, evaluating, coaching and monitoring. Managing and coordinating effective programming for university students, staff and the general population is required, as well as continually planning, developing and evaluating aquatic based programs and services.

The aquatics supervisor is responsible for cost effective management of approved department budgets and maintaining a cost effective operation. Knowledge of and compliance with codes related to the operation of aquatic facilities including policies and procedures, maintaining water quality and the ability to understand the mechanical and chemical systems are essential.

Skills
Strong managerial and team leader skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications
The candidate will have a post-secondary degree, preferably with a business and/or sport, recreation or physical education background. Business courses in marketing, promotion, budget and supervision are assets. The candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience operating a swimming pool in a supervisory capacity, including aquatic programming experience and staff scheduling; budget experience is strongly desired. Equivalencies will be considered.

Position Requirements
The successful candidate must be certified in the following: National Lifeguard (pool option), Lifesaving & Swim for Life Instructor, Standard First Aid; Oxygen Therapy and Pool Operator Level I. Instructor Trainer status for the above and AFLCA certified or equivalent are an asset.

This is a full time continuing position (35 hours a week, with ability to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends)).
