Technician V – Web Developer/Analyst

Opportunity
Information and Technology Services has an excellent opportunity for a web developer/analyst. This position supports the development of web-based information applying technologies as appropriate for the creation of applications to facilitate delivery of information through the web and working with programmers and technical services staff to ensure that the university sites operate within the technical limitations of the equipment on hand and used by clients. The incumbent will work closely with staff and faculty from across the university to identify opportunities for using web-based applications and following the direction of senior IT staff ensure that development standards are met.
The incumbent will oversee the implementation, maintenance and integration of the university’s content management systems in support of delivering information through the web (including the primary public-facing website, ancillary websites and the intranet).

Skills
The ideal candidate will have experience in evaluating and documenting business requirements; develop programming specifications; develop program code using tools such as CSS, HTML5 and Javascript; develop comprehensive test plans; perform walkthroughs on completed codes and present completed solution to key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will use their knowledge and the input from designers and authors to provide leadership producing excellent websites, and be responsive in design from the technology that the university currently uses.

• Strong interpersonal skills to work well with faculty of staff from across the university.
• Presentations and training skills to deliver workshop, training and mentoring
• Listening and reading to interpret requirements and exchange information with colleagues and technical support specialists
• Strong analytical skills to analyze business cases and suggest requirements and solution.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline and a minimum of five (5) years’ progressive experience with systems design and development. Experience working in a post-secondary environment would be an asset.

This position is included under the MacEwan Staff Association collective agreement.
