Opportunity

The Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications (FFAC) of MacEwan University is recruiting for the position of University Advisor. Working with the Music program, the University Advisor is responsible for academic advising in the Department of Music. The University Advisor provides detailed program information to current and prospective students, and to other members of the public; and supports student progress by: advising students, assisting them with registration, and assisting them with tracking their progress throughout their program of study. The University Advisor is also responsible for coordinating events such as auditions, student concerts and juries, and visiting clinicians; and coordinating ensemble activities.

Skills

The successful candidate must be service-oriented and have proven critical thinking, problem solving, and organization skills. The University Advisor must be able to work independently and respond quickly and effectively to multiple demands. This position requires attention to detail and above average verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications

This is a term position until April 2016. The position requires an individual with a related degree, or a diploma with related experience; 3 – 5 years of related administrative experience, including experience in advising students; and experience working with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and the Microsoft Office software suite. Some knowledge of the music industry and formal study of music at the post-secondary level would be an asset. Some equivalencies may be considered.
