Opportunity
The Aboriginal Education Centre, located at City Centre Campus, has an exciting opportunity for an administrative assistant for a high traffic student service department with an Aboriginal focus. The position is focused mainly on administrative duties balanced with reception duties.

In this position, you will provide reception and administrative support to the Aboriginal Education Centre team, such as records generation and management; coordinating initiatives and events; producing newsletters, forms, correspondence and PowerPoints; assisting recruitment through sharing at career fairs and campus tours; direct inquiries to appropriate resources at MacEwan, Edmonton, and Aboriginal community resources; and other duties as assigned.

Skills
The successful candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal skills and flexibility. Knowledge of student services and post-secondary institutions is desirable. Knowledge of Aboriginal communities and cultures is desirable. Demonstrated effectiveness in handling confidential and stressful situations as well as a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team is required.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a minimum of two (2) years post-secondary diploma in office administration and two years’ experience in office administration preferably in a post-secondary environment. Equivalents will be considered. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher) is required and working knowledge of PeopleSoft and record management are assets.
