Disability Management Coordinator
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources Client Services, and working in harmony with the HR Client Services Advisors, Benefits Advisor and the Workplace Health and Safety group, the Disability Management Coordinator provides administration of DM services, develops policies and procedures, promotes return to work concepts through education and training, works closely with the Associations representing faculty and staff, and maintains relationships with external providers in the provision of services to faculty and staff. Programs included in the disability program are WCB, STD and LTD. The Disability Management Coordinator also assists managers in monitoring sick time utilization to ensure a coordinated and integrated disability management program.
This position requires the successful candidate to be resourceful, professional, discreet and to be able to maintain confidentiality, organized and have excellent time management skills to prioritize a busy workload. Your strong written and interpersonal communication skills will position you for success in this position, in addition to having the ability to create and maintain an effective work flow.
Candidates must have a minimum of a 3 year Diploma/Degree in a health related field such as nursing, disability management, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, vocational rehabilitation or a relevant, related field; including completion of academic training in Disability Case Management and/or Occupational Health and Safety. They must also possess a Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) designation and have a minimum of 5 years of experience in Disability Case Management; including experience working in a unionized work environment. Working knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Workers Compensation Act, Alberta Human Rights Act, Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations, and the Employment Standards Act is a must. You much demonstrate experience in interpreting collective agreements and corporate policies and have extensive knowledge of best practices in Disability Management and Early and Safe Return to Work.
