The Educational Assistant is responsible for providing assistive services and facilitating the academic accommodations necessary to achieve the goal of full participation for each student with a disability attending the university. Specific responsibilities include facilitating and proctoring exam accommodations, including technology set-up, providing students with one to one assistance both in and out of class, and preparing print materials in alternate formats including e-text, enlargement, tactile drawings, audio-video transcription.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities
• Experience in post-secondary education including university-level note taking
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
• Competence in using Microsoft office software applications and aptitude to learn how to use assistive technology
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Disability Studies, Rehabilitation or related field; or
• Educational Assistant certificate/diploma with a minimum of 5 years related experience
• Flexibility as hours of work will vary and may be required to work at multiple campuses
