MacEwan University is seeking Senior Development Officers. We have two openings including a continuing position and a temporary position for up to six months. These positions will plan and manage philanthropic and sponsorship activity; including the cultivation and stewardship of relationships with community stakeholders, alumni and other university partners.
Edmonton is a regional hub for Northern Alberta; MacEwan University is positioned in the downtown core of the city and is well-loved and recognized for its outstanding learning experiences and community engagement. There are many ways to connect with MacEwan University, and many people have for over 40 years. It is the key responsibility of the Senior Development Officer to establish, build, and maintain those relationships with a focus on achieving university, and departmental goals and objectives.

MacEwan continues to grow and the new Centre for Arts and Culture, which is under construction on 104 avenue and 110 street, will have approximately 430,000 square feet of classroom, lab, exhibit, and performance space, along with state-of-the-art technology. With a total project cost of $181 million, the building will be an integral component to the educational experience for students in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications, and for the entire university. Not only will it allow for future growth, it increases student access to programming, services and downtown amenities. The centre will open fall 2017.
The Ideal Candidate
Senior Development Officers must be highly organized and able to manage and prioritize a caseload to meet department objectives. The ideal candidate is mature and able to handle situations with exceptional tact and diplomacy. The Senior Development Officer is polished and confident with the ability to work successfully in a diverse stakeholder environment. You are politically astute and possess a good understanding of the Edmonton business community in order to recognize opportunities that meet the needs of donors and the university.
A post-secondary degree along with a minimum of five (5) years’ progressive experience in major or planned gift fundraising is required. Although equivalencies will be considered. Membership in good standing with a professional organization/association such as the Canadian Association of Gift Planners, Association of Fundraising Professionals or Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education is required. You will have a demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies for major gift solicitations and experience working with volunteers in a fundraising environment.
