Conference and Event Services is looking for a motivated, energetic individual for the position of Event Planner 1. This is a full-time twelve (12) month term position with the anticipated start date of June 22, 2015 and end date of approximately July 2016.
This position is responsible for securing and coordinating space, services and equipment for clients holding meetings, conferences, and events at MacEwan University. The incumbent will be responsible for liaison and communication with potential clients, clients and university service providers in the quoting, planning and execution of meetings, activities, conferences and events. Responsibilities include responding to client inquiries, preparing cost quotes, conducting site tours and acting as the on-site contact to meet clients and monitor services and events. The Event Planner 1 may also assist the senior staff with larger, more complex events.
The ideal candidate must be able to prioritize and complete responsibilities in a time-sensitive manner, while working on multiple events in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will have strong organizational, customer service and interpersonal communication skills with proven experience working in a collaborative service-focused environment. The ability, enthusiasm, and flexibility to manage a workload with competing deadlines and multiple tasks are essential to success in this position.
The successful candidate must have a post secondary diploma in a related field and a minimum of one year meeting and event planning or hospitality experience. (A combination of education and specific experience may be considered.)
The successful candidate must be able to work flexible and varied hours to be on-site for clients and their events, including evenings, weekends, and expanded daily hours.
