Technology Support II
Chief Information Officer

The MacEwan Technology Support Desk is seeking a candidate for the Technology Support II position. The Technology Support Desk is the single point of contact for all computer and instructional technology support at MacEwan. This position provides technology support to all students, staff and faculty via phone, walk up and email.

As a senior member of the Support Desk team the incumbent is responsible for prioritizing, documenting, resolving and following up on end user help requests. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools, as well as collaboration with other team members and departments. This position is also responsible for developing knowledge databases, help sheets, frequently asked questions lists as well as training and support of other support team members.

This is a 1 year term position consisting of 35 hours per week. Availability for evening and weekends is required.

Requirements:
• Extensive desktop and server operating systems experience, including Windows XP, Windows 7, Novell and GroupWise
• Experience in supporting PeopleSoft an asset
• Advanced working knowledge of personal computer software packages (e.g. Microsoft Office), as well as demonstrated understanding of various productivity and educational application software
• Experience with computer information systems, network technologies and other IT related concepts (Configuration Management, Incident Management, Problem Management, etc.)
• Proven ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
• Demonstrated problem solving, analytical and multi-tasking skills
• Ability to work well as a member of a team as well as with technical and administrative representatives of other departments within the college
• Demonstrated strong organizational skills and problem solving abilities with a focus on providing exceptional customer service.
