Accounting Technician III

The Financial Services department at MacEwan University has an exciting opportunity for a customer service oriented Accounting Technician III in the Accounts Receivable team. This is a 15 month maternity leave coverage position, reporting to the Supervisor, Accounts Receivable.
In this position you are responsible for the timely analysis of payment reports for any discrepancies; process required corrections of cashier entries; and assist with bank reconciliations as it relates to Student Financials. Other responsibilities include analyzing large amounts of transactions to prepare subsequent monthly journal entries, reconciliations and revenue transfers, as well as other ad hoc accounts receivable duties.
To excel in this position, we are looking for a candidate who possesses strong analytical and investigative skills, detailed oriented, and accurate. Excellent time management, organizational skill, ability to work independently and in a team setting, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills will ensure you are successful in this position.
The successful candidate must have a minimum of an accounting diploma, along with a minimum of 3 years of accounting and accounts receivable experience within a mid to large sized accounting computerized environment. Equivalencies will be considered. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in PeopleSoft applications specifically to the Student Financials module, collection experience, and an intermediate level of experience using Microsoft Excel.
The anticipated start date for this position is in early January 2014.
This position is included under the MacEwan Staff Association Collective Agreement.
