The Department of Career Development and Experiential Learning, Student Affairs Division, invites applications for one full-time probationary appointment called Student Affairs-Technician II.
The successful candidate is responsible for the following tasks:
• Serving as the secondary end-user support for specific software applications and portals
• Providing support for small groups of faculty or staff including facilitating workshops in the classroom, so that they are comfortable using the systems.
• Resolving issues effectively and in a timely fashion
• Creating user online information tools such as fast facts, blogs and updates.
• Providing assistance for co-op, field placement, co-curricular or career portals (Orbis) plus case management software in Wellness and Psychological Services. These will be key areas of responsibility.
As a member of the Career Development and Experiential Learning team in Student Affairs, the incumbent will work as a team member with colleagues to provide quality service in a positive manner, providing resources, support and information toward student success.
Candidates should have demonstrated history of helping diverse adults understand why, when and how to access technology-accessible information and solutions as well as the ability to design and review a process or workflow. They will offer clear, people-friendly, technological solutions to enhance service or overcome issues. The candidates should be advanced users of Microsoft Office and Windows 7 or higher. They should be self-directed learners, and passionate about learning new technology versions and systems as they are needed. Applicants must know or have the ability and interest to master aspects of our current PeopleSoft and Orbis portal system.
Demonstrated success working within a multidisciplinary team, applying exceptional communication and problem solving skills, modelling flexibility, showing initiative and process thinking or mapping are also critical.
Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s or Applied Degree in information technology, education, communication, arts or related areas. Experience in customer service or support in a post-secondary area where accuracy, privacy and data integrity is a must.
