The Department of Music at MacEwan University is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Sessional Instructor, Bass. The successful candidate’s principal duties will be to teach masterclasses and private lessons on electric and acoustic bass, and to oversee all aspects of our bass program. Based on experience and credential, the successful candidate may also be asked to teach courses in other areas of the music department.
The Music department is situated within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications of MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta and is part of the city’s vibrant arts community. Our Bachelor of Music focuses on jazz and contemporary popular music and is one of the most respected music programs in the country.
Applicants must have a strong interest in teaching as a career priority. The ability to work effectively in a collegial environment is also considered very important.
The successful candidate must have extensive professional experience as an electric and acoustic bass player, experience teaching, and possess at least an undergraduate degree, Master’s preferred. Commensurate professional experience may be considered.
This position will commence September 7, 2016.
