MacEwan University is a multi-campus environment offering degree, diploma, certificate, applied degrees, university transfer, post-diploma, continuing education, on-line education as well as planning for undergraduate degree completion.
Opened in September 2005, the MacEwan Residence houses nearly 900 students in a variety of bachelor, 2 bedroom and 4 bedroom suite-style units. We are currently recruiting for the position of Desk Services Agent. This is a full time continuing position.
Reporting to the Housing Coordinator, the Desk Services Agent is responsible for providing front line service to the campus community, residents, and casual and conference guests. Specific duties include providing superior customer service while responding to inquiries at the counter, on the telephone or via email, checking in/out guests, issuing keys, signing out equipment, receiving and processing various forms and referring guests and students as appropriate. Other duties include general office duties, responding to student/guest issues, training and development of student staff, producing various reports and coordinating residence tours.
Interested applicants should have a post secondary diploma in a related field such as travel and tourism or hotel management as well as a minimum of two (2)years experience in a customer service related position . Experience in the hospitality industry, particularly a post-secondary housing environment, would be an asset. Equivalencies may be considered.
The successful incumbent will have excellent communication skills, strong organizational and prioritization skills as well as superior customer service skills. Applicants must also have the ability to work independently in an open office environment, complete work in an accurate and thorough manner while paying attention to detail, maintain confidentiality and deal with situations in a professional, service oriented and tactful manner. The successful candidate will be a team player who can work flexible and varied hours and handle stress effectively. Candidates also need to have working knowledge of Microsoft office including Word, Access and Excel. Working knowledge of StarRez would be an asset.
This position is included under the MacEwan Staff Association Collective Agreement
