Grants and Contracts Facilitator
Research Services

The Office of Research Services supports the academic research mission of MacEwan University, providing assistance and services to faculty and students engaged in research, scholarly activity and creative achievement. Research Services includes the animal care and use program, research ethics, and research administration.

Reporting to the Director of Research Services, the Grants and Contracts Facilitator is responsible for identifying, promoting, and managing research opportunities. The position facilitates, develops processes for, and provides expert advice and guidance in the development of research applications; provides analysis and recommendations on potential research opportunities with the goal of increasing external funding and partnerships; monitors and communicates changes in research grant program policies and procedures; monitors and ensures compliance to sponsored research agreements; and reports on important funding developments. The position additionally provides research consultation and training to faculty and students to improve their grant writing skills and develops programming and resources to achieve this goal.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; excellent writing, editorial and documentation skills; excellent judgment, problem solving, and organizational skills; extensive knowledge of university research environments, including programs and processes of federal and provincial granting agencies, and corporate and private sponsors.

The successful candidate must have a Master’s degree with research experience along with a minimum of 3 years’ related experience in sponsored research administration, including grants and contracts and management with a university, foundation or granting agency. Equivalencies may be considered. The successful candidate must also have an understanding of data analysis and metrics along with computer proficiency, such as, skilled in use of various software and information/ communication technologies. Project management training is an asset.
