Learning and Curriculum Support Librarian

MacEwan University Library at City Centre Campus seeks a creative, student-focused librarian with a strong commitment to information literacy to provide reference, and instructional services.

A member of the Learning and Curriculum Support unit, this successful candidate will join an active instructional team providing information literacy instruction using a variety of delivery methods. In addition, this position will be assigned responsibility for other projects or initiatives that advance the work of the library.

Library instruction is a primary focus of this position and candidates must possess superior presentation and teaching skills, and should be conversant with information literacy pedagogy. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills are essential, as is a strong commitment to delivering user-focused services. The successful candidate will have the ability to work collegially in a team environment, demonstrate initiative and commitment to professional growth, and will be able to adapt quickly to a fast-paced academic library.

Applicants must have a Master of Library and Information Science or equivalent from an ALA accredited program. A minimum one year professional experience in an academic library is required. An undergraduate degree or significant post-secondary education in the sciences or nursing, or substantial reference and instructional experience in the sciences or nursing are preferred. Experience with digital resources and new library technologies are definite assets.

Reporting to the Chair, Learning and Curriculum Support, the successful candidate will normally work 35 hours per week. The appointment starts as soon as possible and ends January 30, 2015, with a possibility of an extension.

This position is included under the Faculty Association Collective Agreement.
