Science Lab Instructor (2 Positions)

The Department of Biological Sciences in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Grant MacEwan University invites applications for two full-time continuing Laboratory Instructors commencing July 1, 2012. These positions will contribute to the growth and success of MacEwan University’s four-year Bachelor of Science degree. Preference will be given to candidates with a M.Sc. in Biological Sciences or related discipline; however, candidates with a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences or related discipline and relevant experience will be considered.
One Laboratory Instructor is required to provide instruction in each of the two streams of study within the Department – Environmental Biology (core courses in organismal diversity and ecology) and Molecular Genetics (core courses in cell biology and genetics). The successful candidates will be expected to provide instruction for the laboratory components of core courses in one of the two streams, as well as senior level courses outside the core of that stream. Laboratory Instructors will, in addition to instructional duties, support the work of the Department through activities such as, but not limited to, curriculum development.
Candidates must demonstrate excellence, or clear promise of excellence, in laboratory instruction. Applicants should have fluent written and oral communication skills in English.
