Are you a seasoned human resources generalist with experience in a unionized environment? MacEwan University’s Human Resources department has an exciting maternity leave coverage opportunity for an HR Advisor!
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources Client Services, the HR Advisor will support and provide generalist human resources services to a designated portfolio. This role is responsible for providing client support services for issue management, attraction and retention, classification/job evaluation, employee and labour relations resolutions, performance management, training and development, return to work, and duty to accommodate, as well as, project work as assigned.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a degree in Human Resources or related discipline complemented by a minimum of five (5) years of generalist experience within a combination of unionized and post-secondary environments. Our preferred candidate will have strong skills in resolving labour relations issues and formal grievance handling; proficiency in conducting workplace investigations; and experience in job evaluations and classification.
Working in a dynamic environment, the HR Advisor will demonstrate an ability to manage multiple priorities; build collaborative relationships; works effectively in difficult or sensitive situations; has strong interpersonal and communication skills; and has established skills in conflict resolution, mediation, facilitation, and/or consulting. Additionally, the HR Advisor will have previous experience with a HRIS system, such as PeopleSoft and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
A generous total compensation package will be included in these positions.
The anticipated start date is July 2014.
