Senior Advisor, Occupational Health and Safety

MacEwan University has an exciting opportunity for a senior occupational health and safety advisor. In this position, the incumbent will provide advice and leadership in developing a culture of health, safety and wellness in collaboration with Deans, Chairs, Faculty, Administrators, Staff and Students. The incumbent will also be responsible to represent Workplace Health and Safety team on committees; lead reportable incident investigations; develop and facilitate health and safety related training; and is a member of the Incident Response Team.
This position leads strategic projects that support various workplace health and safety initiatives using best practices approach to client groups on an extensive range of health and safety topics. In addition, the incumbent will also develop and lead the implementation, and monitor MacEwan University’s Occupational Health and Safety Program.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and problem solving skills with a customer service focus; exceptional facilitation skills; and demonstrated success in program development and implementation.
The candidate will have a minimum of a diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in building and implementing Occupational Health and Safety Programs in large and complex organizations. The successful candidate will also have attended training in course development and/or delivery as well as experience in investigating serious incidents and writing investigation reports, and developing and delivering health and safety courses. Equivalencies will be considered.
The successful candidate will have a CRSP designation and a valid class 5 driver’s license
