Occupational Health and Safety Associate

The Occupational Health and Safety team has an opportunity for an occupational health and safety associate to assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the MacEwan University Occupational Health and Safety Program. The incumbent will provide a best-practices approach to client groups on an extensive range of health and safety topics. This position will assist in developing a culture of health, safety and wellness with employees within the university.
In this technical role, the incumbent will be responsible for consulting on hazard assessment and control; developing safe work procedures and codes of practice; conducting inspections and audits; and facilitating health and safety related training.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate knowledge of a wide variety of health and safety hazards; have excellent communication skills with a strong client service focus; and have excellent problem solving skill.
The candidate will have a minimum of a diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience implementing Occupational Health and Safety Programs, investigating incidents, conducting inspections, and audits. Equivalencies will be considered. The successful candidate should have attended an auditor training course and is familiar with the function of auditing OHS programs.
The successful candidate will be eligible for or working towards a CRSP designation and a valid class 5 driver’s license.
