Guest Accommodation Services at MacEwan University is seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to join its dynamic team for a 11 month term position from February 1, 2016 to December 2016. This position will be of interest to a detail-oriented, organized, customer focused individual who enjoys working in a customer service, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
This position is responsible for providing administrative support to Guest Accommodation Services located in MacEwan University Residence. This position is the first point of contact for guests, staff, potential clients and involves frequent phone, email and in-person contact. Administrative responsibilities are diverse and could include responding to inquiries, maintaining guest and administrative files, placing orders for supplies or equipment, preparing reports, organizing information and compiling statistical information and assisting with groups and set up of the annual summer guest accommodation operation. The primary hours of work will be Monday through Friday with the some flexibility in hours (working evenings, weekends, overtime) required during peak times in the guest accommodations business.
Applicants must have an Office Administration diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience with a minimum of two years’ administrative experience. Experience in a residence or hotel setting or post secondary environment are assets. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills; both written and verbal, have experience in positions that require a high level of attention to detail, strong customer service and organizational skills, be able to cope with multiple deadlines and competing priorities and have the ability to work with a diverse range of colleagues and customer groups. Proficiency in using Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Experience using Peoplesoft or hotel reservation software would be considered an asset.
This position is included under the MacEwan Staff Association collective agreement.
