Grounds Worker

The Facilities department has an opportunity for a six (6) months full-time term grounds worker.

The incumbent will maintain the university grounds and equipment, such as, mowing grass, pruning, transplanting, replacing and propagating trees and shrubs, weeding flower beds, landscape renovations, operating the irrigation systems and use machine and physical labour for snow removal.

The ideal candidate must have good communication skills, knowledge of WHMIS and OH&S regulations and hold a valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license.

The successful candidate should have a minimum of a high school diploma and a minimum of one (1) year landscape maintenance experience. Previous horticultural training and experience in operating grounds equipment such as skid steers or loaders are assets. Equivalencies will be considered.

The position requires the successful candidate to be in good physical condition in order to perform heavy lifting. Flexible work hours is required.

This position is included under the MacEwan Staff Association Collective Agreement.
