MacEwan is in the process of creating a Campus Sustainability Plan (CSP). This plan will provide an overarching framework focused on incorporating sustainability across three main pillars:
- Education and Research
- Operations
- Planning, Administration and Engagement
The MacEwan CSP will be designed using the STARS framework. The Sustainability Tracking Assessment and Rating System (STARS) developed by the Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) has been adopted by over 200 institutions across North America.
In January and February 2011, the Office of Sustainability, with help from the MacEwan Students' Association and the Sustainability Advisory Committee, worked with Emerge Solutions Inc. to facilitate four sustainability forums. The purpose of these forums was to gather input from students, staff, and faculty on sustainability at MacEwan. A survey was also launched for those who could not attend one of the four stakeholder engagement sessions. Input from the survey and the forums will aid in the development of the Campus Sustainability Plan
