Enhanced Recycling Program

FACT

34% of the waste that goes to the landfill is paper. This could be recycled or not used at all.

The blue box recycling program was implemented across all four campuses in July 2009. This program works in partnership with the City of Edmonton and offers one-stream collection. This is the first non-residential collection partnership with the City.

Recycle the caps too

In October 2010, MacEwan launched the CAPS OFF FOR KIDS program at the City Centre Campus.  Green buckets are placed throughout the City Centre Campus buildings 6 and 7 to collect plastic bottle caps.  These are taken to an Alberta bottle depot and all money raised from the sale of the plastic cap materials is donated to the Rainbow Society of Alberta. This was a joint initiative from the Social Justice Group and the Sustainability Advisory Committee.
