Private Drums and Percussion Lessons are offered year-round at all levels, for all ages, at our Alberta College Campus. Students can start at any time of the year.

Drums students may also consider enrolling in being a part of the Percussion Ensemble.

All of our distinguished instructors – many of whom are active as professional performers in the community – have the credentials, experience and ability to provide you with the quality music instruction you want.

Bachelor of Music – University of Alberta

John McCormick has been teaching percussion at Alberta College Conservatory of Music for 13 years. He is a frequent clinician throughout Alberta, including MusiCamrose, Sifton Summerfest, Spectra Summer Arts Festival, the North Country Fair and the Conservatory’s Summer Band Workshop.

John is a graduate of the University of Alberta, where he received his bachelor of music degree. He has also studied at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California. John presently performs with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Edmonton Opera, Alberta Ballet, as well as the Shumka Dancers, Cherimosh Dancers, the Arden Ensemble, the Citadel Theatre, Northern Lights Theatre and many chamber groups of many idioms (jazz, pop, classical, avant-garde, world, etc.). He is the founding member of the Kashim Percussion Trio and the founder and current conductor of the Alberta College Conservatory of Music Percussion Ensemble.
