Artists Diploma – University of Toronto

Nora Bumanis has been the Principal Harpist of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra since 1980. She is a graduate of the University of Toronto where she studied with Judy Loman. She also studied with Alice Chalifoux at the Salzedo Harp Colony in Camden, Maine.

In addition to her busy orchestral schedule in Edmonton, she has also performed with many Canadian orchestras including the Toronto Symphony, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, Calgary Philharmonic, and the CBC Radio Orchestra in Vancouver. As a harp soloist she has given recitals in Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, Seattle, Mexico City and Prague to name a few and has presented chamber music on both radio and television with international artists.

Nora is on the teaching faculties of the University of Alberta, Alberta College Conservatory, King's University College and teaches master classes at the International Festival of Youth Orchestras at the Banff Centre, Alberta. From 2001-2003 she was the Managing Director for the Jasper Festival of Music and Wine in Jasper, Alberta. Nora performs for many charitable events and is an active Rotarian.

Hannah Elossais is a classically trained musician who currently resides in Edmonton, Alberta. Having come from a very musical background, Hannah studied piano before furthering her musical education in harp under Nora Bumanis, Principal Harpist of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Hannah is an active harpist in her community, both as a performer and as a teacher. Her love and dedication to music is evident through her playing as well as her teaching. Although Hannah performs often as a solo harpist, she also performs with other instrumentalists (particularly violinists and pianists) and is a member of Ancora, a local ensemble. Hannah is also a song writer and a member of Aletheia– an amateur Christian singing group. Aletheia has recently recorded a CD which is set to be released by the summer of 2008.

Bachelor of Music/Master of Arts, University of Alberta

Keri Zwicker has been with Alberta College Conservatory of Music since 1998. She is a classically trained musician, having studied harp with Nora Bumanis and piano with Helmut Brauss at the University of Alberta. Keri teaches pedal harp and specializes in teaching celtic harp to students of all ages.

Students are encouraged to participate in competitions and festivals, and Keri sees the three ensembles she coaches as a way for harpists to become team players rather than soloists – learning about timing, expression and working together.

Keri has performed with both the Saskatoon and Regina Symphony Orchestras, and in festivals across Western Canada, including the Edmonton Fringe Festival and North Country Fair. She also plays celtic harp with David Wilkie and Cowboy Celtic, a folk group that tours extensively in the U.S., and has released an album “The Devil’s Mill” that features her gaelic-styled singing and celtic harp playing.
