Private Winds and Brass Lessons are offered year-round at all levels, for all ages, either at our Alberta College Campus or MacEwan University South Campus. Students can start at any time of the year. Lessons are available on the following

Winds and Brass students may also consider enrolling in the Repertoire Classes, Ear Training, Music Theory, or Honour Band. We also offer a Beginner Saxophone course, JumpStart courses for new band students and a Summer Band Camp.
All of our distinguished instructors – many of whom are active as professional performers in the community – have the credentials, experience and ability to provide you with the quality music instruction you want.

Margaret King - Flute
Telephone: Margaret King earned her Bachelor of Music in piano performance, studying with Glen Montgomery, at the University of Lethbridge in 1994. Since moving to Edmonton in 1995, she has been fortunate to work with numerous choirs/choral programs including The Cantilon Choirs, Singspiration, Edmonton Children’s Choir, the Greenwood Singers and Pro Coro Canada. As well, Margaret enjoys her work as a collaborative pianist. In 2010/11 she worked with students of Jolaine Kerley at the University of Alberta. She also maintains a class of piano students at Alberta College Conservatory of Music (Grant MacEwan University). In addition, Margaret loves writing music. Two of her pieces for treble choir, ‘The Unsuitable Suitor’ and ‘Norwegian Trilogy’, are published by Boosey and Hawkes. Her most recent composition, ‘Transformations’ was commissioned by Belle Canto in January 2010. |

Beth Levia - Oboe
Email: Telephone: Beth Levia has played third oboe and substitute Principal Oboe with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and frequently freelances with several Edmonton based ensembles including the Alberta Baroque Ensemble, Pro Coro Canada, Edmonton Opera, Alberta Ballet, and Richard Eaton Singers. She has also played with the Red Deer Symphony, Lethbridge Symphony, New Brunswick Symphony, National Ballet of Canada, Citadel Theatre Orchestra, and Kamloops Symphony. A founding member of WindRose Trio, Ms. Levia can be heard on their debut recording Path of Contact, the 2009 winner of the Western Canadian Music Award for Best Classical Recording. She has been a featured soloist performing Albinoni's Double Concerto Op.9 with ESO Principal Oboist Lidia Khaner and the Alberta Baroque Ensemble; Bach's Double concerto with the Wye String Ensemble and ESO Principal flutist Elizabeth Koch; and Vaughn-William's Concerto for Oboe with the Concordia Orchestra. She is a teaching artist at the Conservatory of Music at Grant MacEwan University, maintains a private studio and is in demand as a Clinician and Adjudicator. For more than a decade Beth has spent part of her summer teaching at MusiCamp Alberta. Ms. Levia holds a Masters degree in Oboe Performance from McGill University and a Bachelors degree in Oboe Performance (with honour) from Michigan State University. Her principal teachers have been Suzanne Lemieux, Daniel Stolper and Normand Forget and she has attended Master classes with oboists John Mack and Richard Kilmer. |
Dan Davis - Saxophone

Telephone: Saxophonist Dan Davis graduated with a Masters degree in Jazz Performance from the University of South Florida in 2009. While at school, Dan was privileged to study and perform with the likes of Grammy-nominated Nnenna Freelon, Adam Nussbaum, grammy winner Conrad Herwig and Jack Wilkins. Outside of school, Dan has played as a sideman and a leader with some of North America’s finest musicians including P.J. Perry, Mike Lent, John Novello, and Jim Head. Newly back to Edmonton, Dan has been performing and recording with groups as diverse as the Shumka Dancers, MacEwan University’s Big Band, the Fusionauts, and the Marty Majorowicz Syndicate. Dan’s new project—A/B trio—is maintaining a busy schedule playing in and around his home province. The group recently finished their debut recording “Take No Prisoners” which will be released in March 2012. Dan is the Saxophone instructor at Alberta College Conservatory of Music. |
