The centre is licensed for 48 children and consists of one toddler room and two preschool rooms. Our priority is on providing full-time care, but part-time care is sometimes possible when there are families who can match spaces.
- The toddler room cares to 10 to 12 toddlers between 19 months and three years of age with a minimum of two staff.
- The preschool rooms care for 16-18 children between two and six years of age with a minimum of two staff.
The centre opens at 7:30 a.m. Although each room is slightly different a child’s day would look like:
Mornings:
- Arrival time - Children settle into the rooms, have snack and play.
- Play and early learning – both in our inside and outside classrooms
- Emergent Curriculum – based on children’s interest.
Afternoons:
- Lunch, rest and quiet time

- Relax from the day, play, children are gradually picked up. Conversations with families
The centre closes at 5:30 p.m.
The relationship between the centre community and the faculty enables the centre to have immediate knowledge of the latest research and best practices in early childhood education. The centre is always striving to provide a program that reflects these practices. The centre operates on best practices in early childhood and is influenced by leading edge philosophies.
The children are the centre of the curriculum. Projects are developed and expanded based on the interests and curiosities of the children. Projects can last a few days or several months. Early childhood educators facilitate this learning by setting up play experiences, asking children questions and encouraging children’s creativity and problem solving skills. Children are encouraged to be excited, engaged and curious about their environment.
The early childhood educators focus on building a sense of community within the room, as well as in the broader community. Children are encouraged to express their ideas and opinions and to solve problems and build relationships with their peers and educators. Children are also encouraged to express their creativity in many ways. We provide lots of materials for exploration, creative expression, discovery and play. . Children are encouraged to express themselves through art, drama, storytelling, music and movement.
Outdoor Play
We believe that playing outdoors every day in all kinds of weather helps children create the habits that will lead to a healthy active life. We think it is also important in fostering an attitude of care for the environment. We try to get outside twice a day.
- The centre provides well-balanced, fresh-cooked meals according to Canada’s Food Guide.
- All allergy concerns are taken into account and the centre is a nut-free zone.
- The centre provides lunch and a morning and afternoon snack for the children.
