Men’s Hockey Head Coach (External Posting)
Griffin Athletics is seeking a head coach for their men’s hockey program to provide leadership and excellence in coaching an elite level program to successful competition within the Alberta Colleges Athletic Association (ACAC). The coach will be responsible for creation and implementation of a seasonal plan for their team, as well as conducting all practice sessions and developing game strategies. Maintaining an active, focused recruitment and retention plan for quality student athletes will be critical to their success, as well as will be the selection and training of their assistant coaches, trainers and other personnel involved with their program. Other important job functions are monitoring of their budget, implementing fundraising events and promoting positive relationships while raising the profile of Griffin Athletics. This position reports to the Manager of Athletics.
The successful candidate for this contractual position will have a minimum of NCCP Level II practical, technical and theory, and a proven track record as a coach of elite athletes, demonstrating ability to recruit, train, and lead athletes to a standard of excellence. Ideally, the candidate will have strong administrative and budget skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong organization and time management skills, and be available to work evenings and weekends. Candidates must show enthusiasm for the sport and be committed to fair play. Knowledge of electronic communication systems and MS
Office Suite would be an asset.
SALARY: Off Campus Coach (part time)
To commensurate with education and experience
AVAILABILITY: Practices 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm – Bill Hunter Arena
Competitive Schedule -30 to 35 games September to March
CLOSING DATE: May 9, 2012 or Until a suitable candidate is found
