Each Griffin team will collaboratively develop its own goals and expectations of conduct in concert with MacEwan (see Griffin Athlete Handbook), the ACAC and CCAA. It is expected that all student athletes be completely informed of team expectations and abide by them.
Eligibility
MacEwan Athletics Academic Standards
Participation on a Griffin team is a privilege bestowed on MacEwan students based on their athletic abilities. This privilege comes with added responsibility and primary focus should be on academics as student athletes strive to complete their studies at MacEwan.
The MacEwan Griffins eligibility criteria for the 2012–2013 are:

Wherein full time status is defined as being registered in and attending a minimum of three credit courses totaling nine credit hours (or equivalent as determined by the institutions Registrar), in each semester in which they participate in ACAC competition.
- Note: Academic Upgrading Programs

A student-athlete may be enrolled in two consecutive semesters of nine or more credits in an academic upgrading program in the same academic year. A student-athlete, who is partially enrolled in an academic upgrading program, in a single semester, must be enrolled in a minimum of two courses totaling six or more credits of post secondary level courses to be considered eligible. A student-athlete is permitted to compete for only one academic year within their five years of eligibility while enrolled in an academic upgrading program.
