Mandate:
The mandate of the Strategic and Resource Planning Advisory Committee is to review and provide advice and recommendations to the Academic Governance Council on matters pertaining to the alignment, effectiveness and efficiency of MacEwan strategic and resource planning, and to provide a forum for communication on strategic and resource issues.
Committee Goals Include:
To review, monitor and make recommendations to AGC relating to the alignment and harmonization of institutional strategic, academic and budget plans.
To review academic and service plans and make recommendations based on institutional priorities, mission, issues and trends.
To provide an institutional forum for communication on strategic and resource planning issues.
1.0 Mandate
1.1 The mandate of the Strategic and Resource Planning Advisory Committee is to review and provide advice and recommendations to the Academic Governance Council on matters pertaining to the alignment, effectiveness and efficiency of MacEwan strategic and resource planning, and to provide a forum for communication on strategic and resource issues.
2.0 Goals
2.1 To review, monitor and make recommendations to AGC relating to the alignment and harmonization of institutional strategic, academic and budget plans.
2.2 To review academic and service plans and make recommendations based on institutional priorities, mission, issues and trends.
2.3 To conduct, at least once every five years, a review and assessment of the relevance, effectiveness and efficiency of institutional policies and processes relating to strategic and resource planning.
2.4 To provide an institutional forum for communication on strategic and resource planning issues.
2.5 To gather and assess input on preferred methods of receiving information on planning and budget issues, and advise on the establishment or adaptation of communication mechanisms.
3.0 Accountability
3.1 The Strategic and Resource Planning Advisory Committee is a sub-committee of MacEwan’s Academic Governance Council.
3.2 The Committee Co-Chairs will provide an Annual Report and Work Plan to AGC and submit recommendations as required for the Academic Governance Council’s consideration.
3.3 The Committee maintains an informational reporting relationship with the MacEwan Budget Committee.
4.0 Composition
4.1 The Strategic and Resource Planning Advisory Committee will consist of the following members, to be elected by the Academic Governance Council:
a) Eight academic staff members, at least two of whom shall be members of AGC. Normally, there shall be at least one member for each faculty/school, and one representative of professional resource faculty.
b) Two deans/associate deans
c) Two representatives from Finance, Facilities, Human Resources, ITS and Student Services
d) Two students
4.2 The following will be ex-officio (non-voting) members of the Strategic and Resource Planning Advisory Committee:
a) Executive Director, Institutional Research and Planning
b) An Assistant Dean from each faculty/school
5.0 Terms of Office
5.1 Members shall serve two-year terms, except for student members who shall serve one-year terms, and those serving by virtue of their positions. Terms may be renewed. Initially, some members will be selected for one-year terms to provide for ongoing renewal of membership over time.
6.0 Committee Operations
6.1 The Strategic and Resource Planning Advisory Committee will be co-chaired by the Executive Director of Institutional Research and Planning a Committee member who will be elected by the Committee for a one-year renewable term to be ratified by the Academic Governance Council.
6.2 The Strategic Project Office shall provide administrative and resource support to the Committee.6.3 The Committee has the discretion to invite resource persons to the Committee as non-voting members.6.4 Meeting notes shall be filed with the AGC Secretariat.
