Mandate
To develop, revise and renew institutional and Student Services "E" policies to ensure that they are contemporary, effective, reflective of institutional values and built upon broad-based consultation.
Roles of the Committee
- To make recommendations to Academic Governance Council and/or the Board of Governors (as appropriate) for "E" policies that are being developed, renewed or retired.
- To revise, develop or recommend retirement of "E" policies in light of current student and institutional populations and issues.
- To submit work plans and annual reports to Academic Governance Council and report to the Board of Governors as requested.
- To communicate "E" policy changes within the institution.
- To provide input on other related institution policies as requested.

2. Roles of the Committee
2.1. To make recommendations to Academic Governance Council and/or the Board of Governors (as appropriate) for “E” policies that are being developed, renewed or retired.
2.2. To revise, develop or recommend retirement of “E” policies in light of current student and institutional populations and issues.

3. Accountability
3.1. The Student Services Policies Committee is a standing committee of Academic Governance Council.
4. Composition
4.1. The Student Services Policies Committee shall consist of the following:
- Chair: A member of the Student Services Management Team as appointed by the Vice President Student Services
- Vice President Academic Students’ Association of MacEwan (SAVPA)
- 1 Residence student as recommended by the Residence Manager
- 2 students-at-large, in consultation with the Vice President Student Services, as appointed by the Students’ Association with consideration to the diversity of the student body
- 4 Student Services employees as recommended by the Vice President Student Services or designate
- 1 Library employee as recommended by the Chief Librarian
- 2 instructional faculty as selected by Academic Governance Council
- Vice-President, Student Services as Ex Officio (non-voting)
Note: It is desirable to have some members who are also members of Academic Governance Council. This shall be a factor in the consideration when filling the membership.
5. Term of Office
5.1. Student members (with the exception of the Students’ Association Vice President Academic) are appointed for a 1-2 year period with the option of renewal for an additional term. Non-student members are appointed for a 2 year period with an option for one renewal. These terms of membership do not apply to the chair.
6. Committee Operations:
6.1. If a member is unable to attend a meeting, it is the member’s responsibility to find a suitable alternate who is representative of the individual’s membership on the committee, to provide the alternate with the agenda package and to notify the Recording Secretary and Chair.
6.2. Quorum: A quorum of the committee shall consist of a simple majority of voting members. The Chair is a non-voting member except in the case of a tie.
6.3. Meeting Schedule: Monthly September through May or June, with additional meetings scheduled at the call of the Chair.
