Mandate
- Provide advice, support, and recommendations to the AGC and stakeholders on issues related to the instructional aspects of faculty evaluation.
- Review Policy C5065: Faculty Evaluation for Instructional Faculty on a regular basis and make recommendations to the Academic Policies Committee regarding changes and regulations.
- Advise on the design, monitoring and implementation of research projects for the purpose of improving faculty evaluation practices. Review research results and make recommendations on revisions to policy and practices.
- Identify faculty professional development and training needs relating to evaluation and make recommendations concerning these needs to the Faculty Commons.
- Ensure regular, effective communication and consultation with all stakeholders on matters relating to faculty evaluation.
- Define requirements for data collection for each aspect of the faculty evaluation system (e.g. student feedback, dossiers, peer review, etc.)
- Provide advice about ethical procedures for data collection and effective ethical utilization of evaluation materials based on feedback and best practices.
- Provide advice to the Faculty Evaluation Coordinator on process and procedures related to the instructional aspects of faculty evaluation.

1. Scope
The scope of this Academic Governance Council committee is limited to faculty evaluation processes for teaching faculty members at Grant MacEwan University. The committee is responsible for providing advice, support and recommendations in respect to the implementation of the instructional aspects of the Faculty Evaluation Policy (C5065), including approval of an overall framework and processes. The committee does not create policies or procedures concerning the evaluation of professional staff at the university. The committee can refer matters to appropriate bodies such as Academic Leadership Team or other university committees, and make policy recommendations to Academic Policies Committee. The committee will consult with groups throughout the university as appropriate.
2. Mandate

3. Accountability
3.1 The Faculty Evaluation Committee is a Committee of MacEwan’s Academic Governance Council.
3.2 The committee co-chairs will report to the Academic Governance Council each year with an annual report and annual work plan and submit recommendations as required for the AGC’s consideration.
4. Composition
4.1 The Faculty Evaluation Committee shall consist of the following members:
a) Five Faculty members: one appointed or elected from each school, and one from the Faculty Association Executive
b) Five Administration members: appointed by the Provost, including one senior member of Human Resources
c) Three Students: selection process arranged by Students’ Association
d) Three Faculty Evaluation Coordinator (non-voting)
e) One Representative from Non-Instructional Faculty Evaluation Committee (non-voting)
5. Terms of Office
5.1 Members, except for student members, shall serve two year, renewable terms, with half of committee members retiring in any given year; student members shall serve one year terms. Terms may be renewed.
6. Committee Operations
6.1 The Faculty Evaluation Committee will be co-chaired by one administrative member and one faculty member.
6.2 The Faculty Evaluation Coordinator, or designate, shall provide administrative and resource support to the Committee.
6.3 The Committee has the discretion to invite resource persons to the Committee as non-voting members.
6.4 Meeting notes shall be filed with the AGC Secretariat.

The Faculty Evaluation Committee meets regularly September through May.
