Mandate:
Review annual international student recruitment plans and provide advice to Director, MacEwan International.
Establish a framework, procedures, criteria and priorities for the assessment of inter-institutional educational agreements.
Recommend Memorandum of Understanding, Student Exchange and Articulation agreements to the Provost and EVPA (based on proposals from schools/faculties/departments).
Review educational partnerships and other inter-institutional education agreements prior to their expiry date and provide recommendations to the Provost and EVPA regarding continuance of the relationship.
Advise on strategies and initiatives to increase international student retention and internationalization of the curriculum.
Appoint and coordinate the work of special subcommittees as related to particular aspects of international education (e.g., Global Awareness Week Sub-Committee and Residence Subcommittee).
Contribute to policy development on international education, in cooperation with Academic Policies Committee.

2.0 Accountability
2.1 MacEwan International Council is accountable to the Academic Governance Council.
2.2 The Council Chair will report on the committee’s activities to AGC and submit recommendations as required for the Academic Governance Council’s consideration.
3.0 Composition
3.1 MacEwan International Council shall consist of the following:
(a) Director of MacEwan International, Chair
(b) Manager of International Admissions, Office of the Registrar
(c) Coordinator, ESL
(d) College Preparation appointed by the Dean of Arts and Science
(e) Two Deans, Associates or Directors, representing different Schools/Faculties/Departments (appointed by Deans and Directors group)
(f) Two students (one domestic, one foreign) appointed by the Students’ Association
(g) Three faculty members (with international experience) elected by AGC
(h) One professional/administrator elected by AGC
(i) Associate Vice President Academic and Research, ex officio
3.2 Members of MacEwan International Council are not required to be members of the AGC.
4.0 Terms of Office
4.1 Appointed and elected members shall serve three year terms, except for student members who shall serve one year terms. Terms may be renewed.
5.0 Operations of Committee
5.1 MacEwan International shall provide administrative and resource support to MacEwan International Council.
5.2 The Council shall meet a minimum of 3 times per year.
5.3 Meeting notes shall be filed by the AGC Secretariat.
