Celebrate Differences

MacEwan is a diverse place.

We celebrate that diversity and our commitment to the many communities we serve.

Here's a list of only a few of the organizations and activities that showcase our differences:

  • Global Awareness Week – a week of activities and events that highlight intercultural and international issues, and MacEwan’s role in the field of international education and development.
  • Aboriginal Cultural Day – an annual event featuring performances by traditional dancers, singers, and special guest speakers.
  • International Day for the Prevention of Racism.
  • The MacEwan Diversity Project – aims to bring visibility and understanding to the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, two-spirited, queer, questioning, and allied communities at MacEwan.
  • Multi-faith rooms – spaces for quiet introspection, meditation or prayer, these rooms –– located at City Centre and Alberta College campuses –– are open for use by students during regular building hours, and can be booked for events by faith-based student groups.

And we recognize that some of our students experience unique challenges because of cultural differences, adjusting to life in a new country, or other factors. So we've developed specialized services dedicated to assisting students to succeed during their time at MacEwan:
