Parking
Limited parking is available in the downtown area. Designated parking for people with disability is available in the underground Library parkade, which is accessible by elevator to Winspear Centre. For more information on parking in downtown Edmonton, please check the City of Edmonton website. Arrive at the Winspear Centre an hour and a half before the ceremony so that you have time to find parking.
MacEwan Convocation is a ticket-less event held at the Winspear Centre. As tickets are not required, graduands are encouraged to invite as many guests as they would like to attend.
Pick up your graduation gown
The link to RSVP and rent your gown will be posted here, on Tuesday May 22, 2012. The online RSVP and gown reservation system will close midnight Sunday June 3, 2012.
Attending Convocation
- Graduands and guests enter the Winspear Centre through the front doors on 99 Street and 102 Avenue (across from Churchill Square).
- Arrive at the Winspear Centre at least an hour and a half before the ceremony to ensure you have time to park and, if needed, get a gown.
- Go to the Coat Check area to get your name card (please check it for accuracy as this is how you will be announced when you cross the stage).
- Get a vee-stole or hood to put over your gown. (You must return your gown and vee-stole or hood to the Winspear Studio after the ceremony. The studio is down the hallway past the Coat Check. If you do not return your gown and vee-stole or hood after the ceremony, you will be charged a $75 replacement fee.)
- Go to your program's marshalling location in either the Studio or on the second floor.
Important note about Personal items
There is no secure storage available for personal items. Please leave such personal items as backpacks, cell phones, purses, coats, etc. at home or with one of your guests at the ceremony.
Marshalling and Seating
Ushers will assist guests into auditorium seating. Seat saving is not permitted.
45 minutes before the ceremony, graduands should find their program's marshalling area in either the Winspear Studio (main floor down the hallway past the Coat Check) or on the second floor. Directions and program signs will be posted.
Graduands will line up in alphabetic order with their Program Chair, proceed into the Performance Chamber, and be seated with their class.
So that your ceremony starts on time, please go to your marshalling location as soon as possible. There will be plenty of time to visit with your guests and take photographs after the ceremony concludes.
Out of courtesy for all graduates, please ensure you and your guests remain in the Auditorium for the entire ceremony.
