Visiting students are enrolled in a program at another post-secondary institution and want to take a course at MacEwan. This might happen for several reasons: the course might be a better fit in the student's schedule. Or the course might not be offered by the student's home institution at the time the student wants or needs to take it.
To access credit courses at MacEwan, Visiting Students must apply to Open Studies, and complete a Visiting Student Enrolment form.They must also provide a letter of permission from their home institution indicating that they have approval to take courses at MacEwan and are a student in good academic standing.
Visiting Students – Simple steps to becoming an Open Studies student at MacEwan
- If you are a program student at another post-secondary institution and you want to take courses at MacEwan, you must apply to Open Studies as a Visiting Student. Complete the application form through ApplyAlberta or in person and pay the application fee. Find out more about the application process, or submit an application.
It is very important that you submit a valid e-mail address with your application as this may be used for communications. - You must also submit a Letter of Permission from your home institution listing (a) the courses you have permission to take at MacEwan and (b) verification that you are in good academic standing. Submit this information to the Office of the Registrar/Information Centre prior to enroling in courses.
- If you wish to register for your course in person, you may do so at the Office of the Registrar.
- If you wish to register online, you will be sent information with details on how to register online; follow the instructions that are sent to you after you apply.
- Pay your tuition by the deadline as indicated in the Academic Schedule.
