Application Process
- Contact the ESL Office for pre-screening
- Apply at www.applyalberta.ca and pay your $ 70.00 non-refundable application fee. Print the receipt.
- If you are not able to use the Apply Alberta web site, you can apply in person at City Centre Campus.
- Call the ESL Office to arrange for placement testing.
- Bring the receipt for your application fee and photo id to the placement test.
International applicants (students studying in Canada on a study permit or other visa) interested in taking English as a Second Language courses must apply to MacEwan's University Studies International program.
Placement Testing
Placement testing takes place at Alberta College on Thursday afternoons from 1 – 3:30. We test your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, and place you into one of seven levels in the ESL program according to the test results.
Placement testing is included in your application fee. Please bring the receipt for your application fee and photo id to the placement test.
If you are eligible to apply for grant funding, you can pick up a a grant application form after the placement test.
