English for Nursing Professions

This part-time course will develop learners’ communication abilities specifically for work place. The course will focus on profession-specific terminology and language use. Clarity of speech, intelligibility, context-specific terminology, non-verbal communication and culturally appropriate language and behavior will all be covered. The various roles of the nursing professional will be included, with an emphasis on Canadian cultural expectations. In addition, the various standardized tests available to students to meet their language proficiency requirement will be discussed. Successful completion of this course should ensure success in CELBAN, CAEL or TOEFL.
