Results are listed on a Test Report Form (TRF), indicating sub-scores in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, and an overall band score, which is an average of the four sub-scores. Band scores range from 0 (non-user) to 9 (expert user). For more detail, please check the official IELTS website.
All IELTS results are mailed 13 calendar days after the test. This means that results will be released on the second Friday following a Saturday test and the second Wednesday following a Thursday test. Please note that only one copy goes directly to the candidate and all other copies must go to institutions.
Additional Copies of Test Results
Each candidate is sent one copy to the home address supplied. Candidates may order additional copies to be sent to recognizing organizations before or after the test date. A fee will apply.
If you would like a Test Report Form (TRF) sent to a recognizing organization (employer, university, agency, professional body), please download and fill out the Results Request Form. Bring or mail the form to the IELTS Test Centre with your payment.
Test results are valid for two years from the date of the test although some receiving institutions may have their own limitations on how old a test result they will accept.
Request for Review of Test Results
Candidates are entitled to request an Enquiry on Results (EOR) which can be a full re-mark (i.e. all test papers) or a partial re-mark (i.e. one or more modules) of their original results. Candidates must submit all their requests for re-mark to the IELTS Test Centre Administrator within six weeks of the test date. The charge to have a review is $170.00.
All information related to the request for review is sent from the local test centre to IELTS Australia. Candidates are advised that the review process may take several weeks.
Procedure:
Candidates requesting a re-mark must:
- Fill out an EOR form (available from the Test Centre)
- Submit the original Test Report Form (TRF)
- Pay a fee of $170.00 CDN
- Wait approximately six weeks to eight weeks to be notified of the results.
If a candidate is awarded a higher score than the original, a new TRF will be issued by the Test Centre with the new score(s). A full refund of the test re-mark fee will be issued to the candidate. If there is no improvement in score, the original TRF will be returned to the candidate and there will be no refund of the re-mark fee. If the re-mark results in a lower score, the original TRF will be returned to the candidate and there will be no refund of the re-mark fee.
