A request for cancellation or postponement of your test must be made via e-mail, letter or fax ONLY. Telephone cancellation or postponement will not be accepted. The Request for Refund or Test Day Transfer Form is available from the IELTS Test Centre. Submission of this request does not automatically guarantee that the request will be accepted.
Cancellation Policy
- Cancellation more than 5 weeks ahead of the test date - you will receive full refund less a $70.00 administrative fee.
- Cancellation less than 5 weeks ahead of the test date - you will receive NO refund.
- Failure to appear for the test is considered a cancellation and NO refund will be issued. You must re-apply.
Transfer Policy
More than five weeks prior
The request for Test Day Transfer must be made more than five weeks prior to the elected test date (a $70.00 administrative fee will be applied). Transfer dates will depend on availability.
Less than five weeks prior
If you transfer less than five weeks prior to the elected test date, it will be treated as a cancellations and you will receive NO refund. You must re-apply, paying full test fees.
If you cancel or transfer within the five-week period prior to the test date you will only receive a refund (less above administration fee) if you can provide evidence that your ability to sit the test has been affected by serious illness or cause as listed below**:
- Serious Illness - hospital admission or serious injury
- Loss or bereavement - death of a close family member
- Hardship/trauma - victim of crime, victim of traffic accident
- Military service
**You must complete a Request for Refund or Test Day Transfer Form no later than five (5) working days after the test date and attach appropriate documentation and/or evidence - medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner, a death notice or certificate or a police report.
