The Department of Physical Education strives to equip students with essential knowledge and skills needed to function effectively in the information age in which we live. The focus is on helping individuals develop human, technical, and conceptual expertise required to take advantage of the various professional opportunities available in today's job market.
The BPE degree program is a four-year program consisting of 40 half-year course equivalents (120 units of course weight). The program has both a professional and discipline focus. Concentrations include:
We also offer course work towards the Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (B.Sc. (Kin)); Bachelor of Arts in Recreation, Sport and Tourism (BARST); and the combined Bachelor of Physical Education (BPE) and Education (B.Ed.) degrees.
Besides the transfer arrangements with the University of Alberta, credit for courses taken in the Physical Education Transfer program at MacEwan may be applied to other post-secondary institutions within, as well as outside of Alberta. However, admission to the Physical Education Transfer program is very competitive.
