While studying physics, you can explore questions like how did the universe begin? How will it end? What is a black hole? Is time travel possible?
Physics is a ‘natural science’; it is the study of matter and its motion and all that come from them, like energy and force.
Studying physics will enable you to follow a career path to research and development, engineering, information technology, medicine, astronomy, meteorology, teaching…the list goes on and on. Your career opportunities in physics have a lot to do with the transferable skills and attributes you develop (a logical mind, ability to solve problems, communication skills, computing and practical skills, teamwork and flexibility) – making you an asset to any organization.
The course list identifies approved courses that MacEwan may offer. Not all courses will be offered every year and some courses are restricted to particular programs. Contact an advisor in your program for information on course availability.
Students should contact the Department of Physical Sciences for details regarding current offerings.
Planning sheets list the specific course requirements for each major and minor in a particular academic year. These requirements can change. The courses you must take to graduate will be determined by the requirements in effect in the year you declare your major or minor. Use the planning sheets below in conjunction with the Core Requirements and Four-Year Program Planning Sheets.
- Major in physical sciences (2011/2012)
- Minor in physics (2011/2012)
If you declared prior to March 19, 2011, please use 2010/2011 planning sheets:
- Major in physical sciences (2010/2011)
- Minor in physics (2010/2011)
If you declared prior to March 20, 2010, please visit the Bachelor of Science program office for archived planning sheets.
