A critical component of the Supply Chain Management major is the co-operative education work terms.
The objective of the Supply Chain Management work experience is to place students into a real-life business environment where they can acquire and develop practical industry skills and apply their academic knowledge.
To qualify, the job assignment must:
- Be a paid position
- Be related to a field in supply chain management (e.g. purchasing, logistics or customer relations)
- Be approved by the program on the basis of predetermined learning objectives to be achieved during the work term
Note that students require three four-month work terms to complete their Co-op designation. Each work term will consist of a minimum of 480 hours (approx. 12-16 weeks).
Graduates of this major will have a strong knowledge base in areas such as purchasing, distribution, customer relations, global logistics, and e-business. Supply Chain graduates will be a definite asset to prospective employers as a strong supply chain network ensures a strong competitive advantage.
