Percolate Launches 2012 Speaker Series With Douglas McLennan

D MclennanThe Arts and Cultural Management program is proud to unveil the new 2012 Percolate Speaker Series. This is brought to you in conjunction with the Alberta Museums Association, Edmonton Arts Council and Edmonton Heritage Council.

Our first speaker is Douglas McLennan, who will address the topic “Liquid Culture: How the Digital Revolution is Transforming the Arts.”

Background

Douglas McLennan is the founder and editor of ArtsJournal. Founded in 1999, ArtsJournal aggregates arts and culture news from all over the internet and is home to more than 60 arts bloggers. At Percolate 2012, McLennan will explore how the digital revolution is transforming the arts.

Prior to founding ArtsJournal, McLennan was an arts columnist and music critic for the Seattle Post- Intelligencer and wrote for numerous publications, including as music critic in the early days of Salon.com, Newsweek, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, and the London Evening Standard.

Awards

Douglas McLennan is the recipient of several awards for arts criticism and reporting, including a National Arts Journalism Program Fellowship at Columbia University and a Deems Taylor/ASCAP Award for music journalism. He was named one of 100 Outstanding Graduates of the Juilliard School for the school’s centennial and, in the spring of 2011, he was on jury duty: for the Pulitzers in the category of criticism. Evening Agenda
