Album - Song From My Heart
For over 30 years, MacEwan University has been helping students realize their goals of becoming professional musicians. At MacEwan University, students have the chance to study jazz and contemporary popular music including pop and rock, making it one of the few universities in Canada with this unique programming. In the ever-growing competitive world of music, further education is crucial for a successful and lasting career.
Building on the popularity and success of our two-year Music Diploma program, Grant MacEwan University proudly presents the new Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz and Contemporary Popular Music (B.Mus.) beginning with first year program students September 2011.
The MacEwan University B.Mus. degree is an academic degree that prepares students for the music profession and further studies at the graduate level by studying with working professionals and a quality academic curriculum. It was developed in response to an overwhelming demand from students for a combination of unique programming and an academic degree credential.
After several years of development, this degree garnered approval by the Minister of Alberta Advanced Education and Technology on recommendation from the Campus Alberta Quality Council, and meets the university music degree program standards of the Canadian University Music Society.
The intake of first-year students begins in September 2011.
With the addition of the Bachelor of Music program, MacEwan University will continue to offer its celebrated Music Diploma program.
Students have the choice to apply to either the diploma program (current intake of 90 students per year) or the degree program (proposed intake of 30 students per year).
MacEwan University Music programming benefits from the exciting, highly inclusive, creative community fostered through the Centre for the Arts and Communications campus, that hosts the performance space of the 363-seat John L. Haar Theatre, state-of-the art sound and recording studio, and music technological facilities.
