Every decision a photographer makes is integral to the craft of communicating with pictures. In the Design & Photography major, students are exposed to photographic workflow — from concept to the click of the shutter. Students practice the thinking, tools, and technologies used in film and digital photography, and then apply what they have learned to projects covering editorial, advertising, portrait, documentary and landscape photography.
Graduates of the Photography major complete a strong portfolio that covers not only the images they capture but also their ability to demonstrate how to use them. This opens doors for careers in print design, art direction and commercial photography. Employment is diverse and often leads to specialization in subject matter like products, food or portraits.
