Ancient Divination
SISS 0007 (OP01)
Divination was practiced widely in
pagan antiquity, along with magic and astrology, but without the stigma often attached to those. The need to find out what was understood as the will of the gods goes back as far as Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. The end of
divination as a public ritual comes to Rome with arrival of Christianity and end of ancient paganism.
