Honestly, I found the program fantastic. From the beginning I felt the program wanted me to succeed. Thank you for all the support. I am very proud to be a Registered Nurse again! – Edmonton Student
MacEwan University is a leader in Nurse Credentialling. It has helped more nurses return to the profession than any institution in Canada. Nurse Credentialling at MacEwan University consists of two facets: Nursing Refresher and Specialty Courses, both available by distance delivery.
The nursing refresher program is designed for those individuals who do not meet currency of practice requirements as a registered nurse, which means they have worked fewer than 1125 hours in the past five practice years.
The curriculum provides an update in all aspects of nursing and is based on the Canadian Nurses Association’s “Blueprint for the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination.” The curriculum covers nursing issues throughout the lifespan and is complementary to the work of other health care professionals.
For nurses trained in another country, or for nurses who wishes to upgrade their knowledge and skills, specialty courses are available. Topic areas include mental health, pediatric nursing, nursing care of the childbearing family and medical-surgical nursing.
Recognizing that different learners have different needs, Nurse Credentialling has been set up as a distance delivery program and is offered in several provinces in Canada. Learners can access materials and instructor support, and local clinical experiences can be arranged.
