The need for health care professionals with knowledge in complex wound care is increasing. Some of the professionals who may require this knowledge and skill set:
This post-basic certificate is the only program of its kind in Canada and provides health care practitioners with the specialty knowledge and expertise required to work in a practice setting with patients who have complex wounds resulting from a variety of disease pathologies and factors.
The focus of the program is on the management of all complex wounds, however certain populations that are at greater risk to develop wounds will be emphasized.
Prevention of the exacerbation of wounds is covered throughout the program. This is part of a standardized approach to wound management involving all members of an interdisciplinary wound management team.
