What is Open Studies?
Well, for starters, Open Studies is a reflection of who we are. We are always open to new ideas and new ways of doing things. Specifically, Open Studies at MacEwan University is a collection of credit courses from many of our programs that are open to learners who are not following a specific certificate, diploma or degree program of study.
Who can take Open Studies credit courses?
In a word—anyone. In many other words, Open Studies is for you if you are interested in enrolling in credit courses on a full or part-time basis.
- take credit courses for general interest or personal development
- explore your interests before applying to a certificate, diploma or degree program or get a head start on your post-secondary education
- take a course as a visiting student from another post-secondary institution
You may take up to 30 credits in Open Studies. If you plan to apply to a MacEwan University certificate, diploma or degree program, you are generally limited to a maximum of two or three program courses in Open Studies before you must apply.
