Research Your Options

With our focus on teaching and learning, Grant MacEwan University is an excellent environment to learn in, and we would be honoured to have you as a student if we are the right fit for your career/educational goal.

In order to make the right educational choice for yourself, follow these steps:

1.  Determine where you are in the career planning process

2.  Research your options

3.  Choose a program that fits

4.  Investigate Admission Requirements

  • For minimum admission requirements, consult the program pages.
  • Do you have/are you enrolled in the proper courses?
  • Is the program competitive?
  • Does the program have early conditional acceptance?

5.  Apply to your program of choice

6.  Figure out your finances

Still undecided?

If you know you want to be a university student but are unsure about your program, consider applying to one of the following programs:

  • Bachelor of Arts
  • Bachelor of Science
  • General Studies.

See a Student Advisor in the Student Resource Centre to discuss your options.

If you are unsure about becoming a student…

To be a successful university student, you need to want to be a university student. Studying at the post-secondary level is hard work – your Grade Point Average (GPA) is a permanent record, and you must achieve at least a C average in your courses in order to remain in your program. Consider taking the time you need to be sure you want to be a student before committing the time, money and energy it takes to be successful. It is never too late to come back to school.

Gap Year

Taking a year or two off from school could give you an opportunity to explore your options, get to know yourself better and investigate the world of work. You can travel, work or both.

For example, Katimavik offers Canadian youth the opportunity to contribute to the sustainable development of communities across Canada through challenging volunteer service programs.
