Assessment of Needs

Services to Students with Disabilities (SSD) will develop an individual accommodation and service plan with the student, and where necessary, with faculty input.  The following factors are considered in the development of the individual plan:

  • Functional effects of the disability or disabilities in the academic setting (based on documentation of disability)
  • Design of courses
  • Accommodations and services that will:
    • Facilitate equitable access to course materials and activities
    • Maximize the student's independence
    • Maximize the student's full participation
  • Availability of services and resources
  • Reasonableness of accommodations considering impact on student with the disability, faculty, SSD, other students and the institution
  • Essential academic requirements

All SSD services will be designed to balance your need for disability-related supports while maximizing your independence.
