Services to Students with Disabilities (SSD) encourages students to explore sources of financial assistance that may assist with regular educational costs or for specific disability-related costs.
Scholarships and Awards
If you are a current student, log in to the student portal at www.myMacEwan.ca. Select “Student Services” then “Scholarships, Awards and Bursaries”. Click on “Search Applications” and select “Search by Category”. One of the categories is "Students with Disabilities."

Disability-Related Funding
You may be eligible for funding to cover the cost of disability-related services and technologies. SSD can provide more information about these funding sources and can help you to complete the application processes.
Canada Study Grants for Students with Permanent Disabilities (Students Finance)
To obtain a Canada Study Grant for Students with Permanent Disabilities, you must apply, and be eligible, for federal student loan or part time financial assistance. To complete the application, you have to submit
- current documentation of disability confirming a permanent disability,
- an Individual Service Plan, prepared by SSD, outlining the recommended services, technologies and estimated costs, and
- a completed and signed Schedule 4 form (part of the Alberta Student loan package and the Application for Part-time Financial Assistance).
If you are awarded a grant, you will receive the grant funds directly.
- You are required to submit receipts to the Students Finance Board confirming that you have purchased the recommended technologies and services.
- SSD has established processes to assist you to manage these grant funds effectively.
