International Student Coordinator
Position: International Student Coordinator
Salary: $15 per hour
Hours: 35hrs weekly

The Students' Association of Grant MacEwan University employs several part-time students and full time staff, who develop and provide award-winning services and programs, ensuring the best possible experience for MacEwan students.
Required tasks
- Help create and run spring/summer programming for ESL, International and upgrading students enrolled at Alberta College
- Provide essential services (ex. selling ETS passes, and providing information about our health and dental plan) to all students of Alberta College.
- Plan, develop and implement our annual orientation week activities
- Liaise with related community groups and staff within the institution
- Assist with developing a series of events for the 2012/2013 school year
- Conduct research on available entertainment for a monthly series of programs
- Other duties may be assigned as required.
Supervisor/mentoring
This Programs Coordinator reports to the Programs and Services Manager at Alberta College.
The Coordinator will learn how to assemble an event flow, a day-of schedule, and an annual calendar. The Coordinator will learn about the various relationships within the Association and the University and will be integral in building and fostering those relationships to ensure that successful events are carried out. The Coordinator will have bi-weekly meetings with the Manager to ensure goals are set and met. An initial goal setting will take place as the position is hired and an evaluation will occur shortly before the position wraps up.
Awareness of health and safety practices
The Programs Coordinator will receive an orientation to ensure they are aware of health and safety practices. The Coordinator will receive a guidebook on such practices from the University and the Association.
Community Benefit
This position will benefit students in programs such as Public Relations, the Bachelor of Arts and the Arts and Cultural Management programs. Students will gain valuable event planning experience that will supplement their education and aid them in their transition from post secondary learning to full time work.

Student Clubs Assistant

Minor:
- Assist in the administration of technical and logistical aspects of the service: photocopying, filing, data entry, scheduling, and room bookings, and locker registration.
- Provide student clubs with information regarding club registration, club handbook, club forms.
- Maintain and update social media, webpage, twitter and facebook pages.
- Assist in booking rooms and spaces for student groups.
- Assist with the preparation of Club Days.
- Update club forms as needed on the web and on orgsync.
Qualifications:
- Must be a MacEwan student registered in a minimum of one class in both the fall and winter semesters.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and have demonstrated computer skills.
- Possess a general knowledge of student groups on campus.
- Public speaking, administrative experience and or event planning experience an asset.
- Must be available to work an average of 15 hrs a week between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday to Friday, for the duration of the school year and varying hours as event needs dictate (up to 15 hours per week). We can schedule your office hours around your school schedule. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

In this dynamic position you will assist on all events produced by the South Campus Events team, and will take a leadership position on events with a lifestyle and wellbeing focus.
Job Duties:
Major position responsibilities:
- Working with the manager, you will take a leadership position on events with a lifestyle and wellbeing focus relating to but not limited to Stress Less, Self Defense, Adopt-a-family, Bras Across the Bridge, Breakfast Club, Sexual Health Week, etc
- Assist with all annual events produced by the Events Department, including but not limited to: New Student Orientation, Fall Fest, Volunteer appreciation parties, Mad Tea Party, St. Patrick’s Day Pub, and Here Comes the Sun
- Organize and implement additional informative sessions and workshops as capacity dictates
- Connect with the MacEwan student community and relevant community organizations
- Recruit event volunteers, track hours, and deliver reports on request
- You will be responsible to regularly communicate either in person or through email or telephone with fellow coordinators at other campuses to create cohesive programs and events across campuses
- Promote your events on campus with the assistance of the marketing team and your volunteers
Minor position responsibilities:
- Produce an event plan, marketing requests and budget for each program you are leading
- Produce an event report and financial report within two weeks of each program activation date.
- Office duties including but not limited to reception, U-Pass distribution, health benefit information and assistance, clubs assistance, and retail
- Assist fellow coworkers with programs they are leading
- Attend orientation and training sessions and continually update transition material
- Attend weekly South Campus staff meetings
- Attend and contribute to monthly meetings with coordinators and managers on all campuses
- Produce monthly activity reports to supervisor
- Act as a representative and advocate for the Students’ Association by participating in public speaking when required

Assistant General Manager
The Students’ Association of Grant MacEwan University represents the needs and interests of the full and part time students of the University, approximately 18,000 students. Through advocacy and support, the Students’ Association provides opportunities that advance student success. The SA provides the strongest possible voice for the students of MacEwan University. We currently have an opening available for Assistant General Manager. The Assistant General Manager (AGM) will be responsible for assisting the General Manager (GM) with the entire operation and operating results of the SA.
Job Responsibilities:
Supervisory and general management:
- Participate in the hiring and management of SA staff.
- Indirectly supervise all SA staff
- Maintain daily contact with staff and meetings as appropriate
- Administer Risk Management/Loss Prevention Programs
- Maintain ongoing communication with university and community officials
- Assist in SA projects as requested
- Assist and / or lead projects, hiring employees, etc. as requested
- Maintains vendor and partner relations.

General accounting and financial controls:
- Manages annual budget and implements cost controls. Financial analysis, accounting practices and reports.
- Analyzes and interprets financial data and recommends changes to improve systems and financial performance.
- Maintain, analyze, summarize and general ledger accounts,
- Prepare or supervise preparation of financial statements
- Coordinate year-end audits
- Presents financial information weekly/monthly to senior management and/or Board of Directors.
- Works on special projects as needed.
- Maintains the general ledger chart of accounts.
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in business, an accounting designation and several years of business experience are required. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills are also a necessary qualification.

Graphic Designer
The Students’ Association of MacEwan University is seeking a Graphic Designer. Reporting to the SA Director of Marketing and Communications, this full-time position features full health and dental benefits, a competitive salary and a great work environment.
Job Details
As the lead Graphic Designer at the Students’ Association, you will play a key role on the Marketing and Communications team. You’ll participate in creative development meetings and give your design perspective on everything from booklets to year-long campaigns.
You and the team will also work on beautiful print pieces and effective electronic campaigns to the creation of installation displays and clear communications material.
With creative direction from the Director of Marketing, your creativity and production knowledge will help ensure that the Students’ Association has spot-on aesthetics and cutting-edge design, combined with perfect strategy--and that everything is seamlessly implemented in support of the Association’s programs and services.
Job Duties
- Interpret creative briefs into effective design strategies and solutions
- Prepare all files for print production and liaise with the print company representatives
- Provide printing services for internal and external clients (including billing and minor upkeep)
- Ensure projects are of very high quality and are completed on time and within budget
- Ensure that proper records are kept of all work and everything is backed up with regularity
- Manage time effectively and keep clear and up-to-date time logs
- Keep up with new developments and trends in the design field on behalf of the SA
