December 3, 2009--The Canadian Colleges Athletic Association announced the CCAA Volleyball Athletes of the Month for November. The CCAA Athlete of the Month program recognizes student-athletes for their outstanding event performance and athletic accomplishments during that month. Awards are presented to one male and one female student-athlete in each conference participating in the CCAA Volleyball; the five conferences are Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association (ACAA), Fédération québécoise du sport étudiant (FQSE) Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA), Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) and British Columbia Colleges Athletic Association (BCCAA). From British Columbia: Nate Speijer, is a second year student-athlete at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. This leftside hitter has been exceptional leading the Heat to an undefeated season thus far. Speijer is leading the BCCAA in kills with (4.16/set) and sixth in the league in aces. Not only has Nate established himself as a premier college attacker, he is also one of the most feared servers in the league. His dedication and passion for the game make him a very valuable team player for the Heat.
From Alberta: Kenny Rauwerda is a second year Chemical Engineering Technology student at SAIT Polytechnic. Playing the right side for the Trojans, Kenny is leading the ACAC in blocks and 143 kills. Kenny's superior play was instrumental in the Trojans victory over the South's top seeded Red Deer College. During the first match, he had 12 kills and 6 digs and responded with an incredible 27 kills on the rematch. He has been a major factor in the Trojans' 6-2 start to the season.
From Ontario: Terrel Bramwell is a Recreation and Leisure student-athlete at Humber College. Terrel may be the most explosive Rookie in the history of the OCAA. In a few short weeks he has rocketed himself to the top of the best players in the conference. He has led the top ranked Hawks squad to a number one Provincial and a top four National Ranking. Terrel is known for his athleticism, and power both on his the serve and attack.
From Quebec: Tommy Bélisle is a Natural Science student-athlete at Cégep de Limoilou. Bélisle is a second year attacker and Captain for the Titans. He leads the FQSE with 92 kills, 17 assists, 16 blocks and 5.21 points per set played. Tommy is an all-round player who also excels defensively. He has an exceptional work ethic and leads his team by example.
From the Atlantic: Carle Settle is a Bachelor of Arts student-athlete at the University of New Brunswick- St. John. A fourth year setter for the Seawolves, Carl ‘s strength and consistency have played a big part in UNBSJ's strong start to the season. Settle has averaged 24 assists per match and has enabled the hitters to perform to their top level.
