Grant MacEwan University

Welcome to the Faculty of Arts & Science

Almost twenty years ago this Faculty was small, with a few hundred students in university transfer programs. Today, there are more than four thousand students pursuing degree and university transfer studies within the Faculty. This steady and substantial growth suggests that what we are doing is working, and working well.

Making statements about our own success is simple. But, surveys and reports from other institutions have also consistently shown that our students who have moved on in their studies are very successful. Our first BA graduating class is a group who has truly benefited from the MacEwan experience - a quality education provided by expert and engaged faculty members in smaller sized classes. Some of these students have gone on to pursue graduate studies; others have stepped directly into the world of work, equipped with the skills necessary for success.

The Faculty has received a positive recommendation from the Campus Alberta Quality Council for our Bachelor of Science degree. Starting fall 2009, we will begin offering the first two years of our four-year degree.  Third and fourth year courses will be added in 2010 and 2011.  With six majors and eight minors, the Bachelor of Science degree provides broad and widely applicable knowledge and abilities.

So, when we say that you can build a solid foundation for success in your post-secondary goals with MacEwan's Faculty of Arts and Science, it's not just empty talk.  Our students experience, benefit from, and choose to stick with the environment and ethos that emphasizes active engagement between students and faculty.
