Important Notes:

WITHDRAWALS
Students dropping or withdrawing from a continuing education course will be charged a $20 administration fee.

Students are held responsible for courses in which they are registered until they formally withdraw from these courses within the deadline dates. To withdraw from a course, please complete, sign and submit a withdrawal form to the Registrar’s Office in person or contact the Registrar’s Office at 780-497-5000. These forms are available from the Office of the Registrar at City Centre Campus or Information Centres at all campuses.

Students should be aware that:

  • Non attendance does not constitute notice of withdrawal for the purpose of applying for a refund nor does notifying the instructor or ceasing to attend lectures constitute an automatic withdrawal.
  • As cost-recovery courses require payment in full at the time of registration, stop payments on cheques do not constitute an automatic withdrawal.
  • Exceptions may be considered past the deadline date in special circumstances on compassionate grounds. The Associate Registrar, Records and Convocation, or designate, will be the authority for the approval of special circumstances.
  • Failure to officially withdraw from credit courses will result in a failing grade. Check your registration statement for the last day of the credit course withdrawal-without-academic-penalty date. Academic withdrawal dates are calculated approximately two-thirds through your course.

Note: Check your registration statement for more details on policies and procedures for refunds and withdrawals.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES FOR REFUNDS AND WITHDRAWALS
Refunds if applicable are calculated according to the scheduled refund categories in policy E1112. Please refer to the following web page for additional information on refund categories: www.MacEwan.ca/refunds.

CLASS CANCELLATIONS
MacEwan reserves the right to restrict enrollment or to cancel any class for which there are insufficient registrations. Should the course for which you have registered be cancelled, we will make every effort to contact you prior to the start date. Please provide day and evening phone numbers when you register. Fees for cancelled classes will be refunded or applied to another course.

AUDITING
Students auditing a credit course must pay the full tuition fee. Written permission to audit a course from the instructor who is teaching the course and approval of the program chair must be obtained by the student.

COURSE PREREQUISITES
Students must be able to provide proof they comply with course prerequisites if applicable.

MACEWAN CARD/UNIVERSITY I.D.
A MacEwan card/university identification card is available to all students enrolled in a credit course and a mandatory $10 fee will be added to the cost of your registration. The cards will be produced and distributed by your campus LRC. This card allows you to borrow materials from any of the campus LRCs and from selected external libraries, and to access LRC online databases and services. For further information call 780-497-5852.
