International Initiative in Deaf Studies

BACKGROUND:

Established March 2002 with funding provided by Thibodeau's Centre for Hearing Health and Communications.

The purpose of this award is to enable a post-secondary student to pursue his or her interests in deaf studies and/or hearing imapirment as it relates to an international context. The student will further his or her interests by engaging in the work of the Canada Ukraine Alliance for Deaf and HArd of Hearing Persons (CUADHHP), based in Edmonton. Alberta, Canada.

The award will be given to the student upon completion of short-term project work assigned by CUADHHP. The terms of the project will be established as mutually beneficial for both the recipient and CUADHHP.

VALUE: $500

CONDITIONS:

Recipient must be a post-secondary student, either full or part-time, whose educational pursuits and.or colunteer work indicates an interest in international inititives in deaf studies and/or hearing impairment.


Students will submit an application and letter detailing thier interest in the field, and previous experience with deaf studies or hearing imapirment issues.


CHOSEN BY:

Applicants will be reviewed by Thibodeau's Centre for Hearing, the Ukrainian Resource and Development Centre (URDC) at Grant MacEwan University, and the Canada Ukraine Alliance for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Persons.
