Practice. Practice. Practice.
MacEwan's Theatre Arts Program is a full-time actor-training program where you'll work hard learning the tools of the trade in a motivating, conservatory atmosphere.
At MacEwan, the goal is to learn by doing. By rehearsing with demanding texts, and by developing the many means of physical and visual expressiveness, you'll expand your ability to communicate as an actor. Movement, singing, voice, text, and scene study are all viewed as components of the whole. We are committed to your overall training and dedicate an equal amount of time towards learning the three disciplines of acting, singing, and dancing.
You'll study courses in play analysis, theatre aesthetics, music theory, ear training, mask work, period and style, and audition technique to complement your studio training.
In your second year, you will have the chance to flaunt what you have learned by performing in major musicals on the stage of our 349-seat John L. Haar Theatre and workshop performances in the intimate Theatre Lab.
Our productions are known for their high quality and energy, ambitious scale, and level of professionalism. MacEwan's Theatre Production program students will work with you in a collaborative effort to produce the best sets, costumes, props, lighting and all the elements that go into a major production like "Titanic", "Pal Joey", "West Side Story" and others. To give you more of an idea of what it is like to be a Theatre Arts student view the Sample Year One and Two Timetables.
